I retained The Crowder Law Firm in May 2024 for $10,000 to handle my case (24-638974-A). On Oct 21, 2025, I attended my first court hearing after receiving their reminder text, but no attorney from the firm appeared. I later discovered they had withdrawn from my case without providing any advance notice, explanation, or refund. Communication throughout was poor—promised meetings never happened, and my case was passed between different lawyers with no consistency. I am now left without representation after paying a large retainer. I don’t recommend for anyone, especially African-Americans. I was told that I would be contacted by Darlene Crowder on 10/22/2025 to address my situation, but of course, that never occurred. I followed up today, 10/23/2025, and I was told that my refund is currently “under review”. No one can tell me why they withdrew from my case? Why I was not notified in advance? And why was I still receiving text communication up until the day f my arraignment, if you withdrew? I am requesting a full refund and will be filing a complaint with the State Bar of Texas.

My name is Keoni Gray. I paid The Crowder Law Firm $10,000 back in May 2024 to represent me. What I got in return was nothing but incompetence, broken promises, and outright disrespect. On Oct 21, 2025, I had my first court hearing (Case #24-638974-A). I received a text reminder telling me to show up, check in with the bailiff, and wait for my lawyer. I sat there for hours. No one ever showed up. Later, I learned that they had secretly withdrawn from my case without telling me—no notice, no explanation, no refund. This firm is a mess. The only time they ever reached out was when it was time to collect a payment. I was promised a meeting to go over discovery two weeks before court—that never happened. They switched my lead lawyer so many times, I never even knew who was supposed to represent me. And it doesn’t stop there. I also hired them for a second case (Case #24-638974-B) but canceled after realizing how lost they were. Yet despite my cancellation, a lawyer from Crowder—a short white man named Andrew, I think—still showed up to court. He literally admitted he didn’t know the background of the case and just came to stand in. I had to tell him directly they weren’t even representing me on that matter anymore. How unprofessional and dangerous is that? They are crooks, plain and simple. They abandoned me at my first hearing, shuffled my case around like paperwork, and even sent an attorney to court who smelled like alcohol and openly said he didn’t know my file. The way I was treated also makes me question whether they even cared about me as a Black man in the first place—because no client deserves this level of disrespect. If I don’t receive a full refund of my $10,000, I will be filing a formal complaint with the State Bar of Texas. Bottom line: Do not believe the hype of their good reviews. This firm is disorganized, unprofessional, and negligent. They wasted my money, time, and trust. Stay far away from The Crowder Law Firm.

Had 3 appointments for consultation, none were honored. Not even a communication was received acknowledging the missed engagement. Can only assume my case would be handled with the same lack of care/interest.

I am incredibly thankful for The Crowder Law Firm. We worked with Darlina Crowder and Justin Carmichael. My nephew found himself with two serious charges that would have changed his life forever. We had originally went with a less expensive attorney whose counsel was to take a deal. Everything with his case seemed off, so we decided to interview other attorneys.
